'Callous'

8” x 5” x 12"
African Padauk

This piece of wood was an interesting find and a tough one to identify, especially in the state I found it. My best guess is that this is African Padauk. Leftover from some of the local Paje construction crews, it was packed with concrete and falling apart. Destined to be absorbed into the earth over time. After a lot of clean-up and stabilizing, it boasts some absolutely beautiful characteristics. Natural cavities like little tunnels. A weathered, worn-down, and seasoned surface. Like it could tell a thousand stories. 'Callous'
